Today sees the start of England’s tour of Sri Lanka, playing at the top level requires total dedication and continual work toward improvement. Here’s an insight in to up and coming bowler Jamie Overton’s daily routine, Jamie currently plays for Somerset County Cricket Club and is a future England hopeful.
8.30am
Wake up! Get some breakfast.
9.30am
Arrive at the ground for practice.
10am
Practice starts at 10 for 2 hours. Usually I would bowl about four overs in a net, then have a bat later on when all the main batters have finished.
1pm
After practice I go and get some lunch.
2pm
At around 2 I would go into the gym and get a strength or Olympic lifting session done for the week. Usually consists of squats or cleans.
3.30pm
From about 3.30pm I am free and if the weather is nice I might go and play some golf or I just relax in front of the television and play on the PS3.
10.30pm
At about 10.30 I go to bed and get some sleep.
