The ingredients for this power detox anti oxidant smoothie is not set in stone, feel free to add a carrot or apple for sweetness, or any other fresh green veggie you might have handy. Adding water helps the consistency to be drinkable, again it’s up to personal preference how thick you want it! You could also add supplements like wheatgrass or barleygrass powders for example, avocado works well too.
This will make enough for one person all day, or share with a loved one! Make it portable by popping it into a bottle, add a couple of ice cubes to keep cool and drink with in a couple of hours to retain the freshness.
I’ve been teaching Yoga, well-being and fun movement classes for 8 years. I love to move, but I was not always that way…as a youngster I did everything I could to avoid PE! My first job was sitting at a desk and at 17 my body became the shape of my work chair. Then I went travelling, and so started a yoyo weight pattern, extreme eating and exercise habits with a distorted body image.
Yoga saved me in so many ways, I started 15 years ago, and at now nearly 40 I feel more alive and healthy than I’ve ever done! With regular practice comes increased awareness and perspective and this helps me to appreciate the short time that we have on this earth. We need to make the most of each day. I know my future body and mind will thank me for my regular Yoga practice!
What does a Yogi look like? Anybody! In class I can have a big range of age, experience, and fitness… all side by side on the mat. I teach by tailoring practice to the individual, I aim to inspire my students and demystify yoga. In class we build the foundations for wellbeing in a fun and relaxed way and enjoy exploring our potential. There is no competition in yoga, we breathe, feel, smile and learn to be calm and compassionate. Practicing yoga, even just for a few minutes at a time leaves you feeling better, stronger and ready for life.
Looking after yourself is a serious business for sure, but to make that shift, to be living a lifestyle of wellness and health does not need to be a pressurised one. My classes support and nourish the individual, promoting a life that is fun and relaxed with coping techniques to make good decisions. Yoga should be ‘done your way’ and making positive change is all about small steps in the right direction. None of it needs to be complicated, smiling more at yourself and your ups and downs helps! Encouraging people to take up Yoga is my mission, a Yogi is anyone that wants to move forward with positivity, inspiring others to do the same…
